ONE TOOTH RECORDS: Artists

THE CORBITT BROTHERS BAND - OUTLAW COUNTRY

The Corbitt Brothers Band present themselves with a well rounded set of bluesy rock, gritty southern country and a classic flavored edge to great timeless tunes.
Starting acoustically with the stripped down soulful simplicity of Newsome's balladeering an original song showcasing eloquence tinged with a gravely edge vocally. Isaac manned the harmonica with his machine gun tongue.
Introductory nods to the classics such as The House Of The Rising Sun, and rounding out the start of the set with another original composition uptempo and fresh.
Newsome and Isaac were then joined by a the band which included Joey Fletcher Lead Guitar, Lane Baker Bass and Brandon Buck Drums. The full sound had a great strong bassline and tight instrumentals with the pure enjoyment of artistry shining through.
The band throughly enjoys the stream of creativity and flow which is always appreciated by the crowd. The Corbitt Brothers Band have a my space at: http://www.myspace.com/thecorbittbrothers

Chris Merkley - Roots Blues

Chris Merkley grew up in the hills of central New York and now resides in New York City. He has toured over a dozen different countries in Europe and throughout the U.S. with his band, The Crooners.

As a child, his influences were a mix of Led Zeppelin, the Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles. When he began playing music at the age of 12 he carved his style somewhere between those artists and their original influences...the bluesmen of the early 1900's.

The result is a unique blend of acoustic music from young man with an old soul.

Richard Starkey - Guitarist

In 1992 Richard Starkey went to work for Martin, at first becoming a "utility" person, which means he filled in wherever necessary. This kind of moving around gave Starkey the leg up and knowledge that few people get. He has helped with construction, repair, and research and development, including the design of a special guitar inspired by one of his heroes, musician Clarence White. He owns the second Clarence White guitar ever made.

He has even become the company's historian, and he leads tours. He continues to field calls and letters from people wanting to learn more about their Martin guitars. He's also been in the company of many greats, from Willie Nelson to Porter Wagoner to Del McCoury and Arlo Guthrie, who spent a few hours with Starkey and his wife in his Franklin home. One time Steve Miller drove up in his tour bus to their house to get Starkey to work on his guitar.

Billyblues - Kentucky based acoustic blues act

Colin Raitiere: bass, mandolin, and vocals
Mark Lucas: resonator guitar and vocals
Mike Norris: harmonica, guitar, and vocals

Billyblues began on a back porch in backwater Kentucky. Mark and Colin were thumb-picking Mississippi John Hurt songs when Mike came by with a bottle of Jim Beam and a suitcase full of harmonicas--and the band was born. The sound they developed over the next six years and two albums took inspiration from all styles of blues--Delta to Chicago--but especially from mountain-South traditional music, which is bluesier than the people who make categories usually notice. Songs by the likes of Blind Blake, Muddy Waters, and Jimmy Reed are an important part of what they do, but they have become known for the dark wit and weathered three-part harmonies of their originals. In the words of one reviewer, "Tom Waits Meets the Soggy Bottom Boys."

Beyond their club schedule, the trio has played respected roots-music events such as the Hot August Blues Festival and the Hindman Folk Festival as well as major regional venues such as the Brown Theatre in Louisville and the Norton Center for the Arts in Danville. "Pumpkin Pie" and "Hold On" have gotten radio play on WRVG, WHIR, Americana Crossroads, and WUKY. "Hoot Owl Blues" and "El Camino" were highlighted in a KET-TV feature on the band.
